STUFF WE BELIEVE
TRIUNE GOD:
There is one God—limitless, everlasting, all-powerful, and perfectly holy, true, and loving. Within the one divine nature exist three distinct Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They exist together, share equal authority, and are eternal. The Father is not the Son, and the Son is not the Holy Spirit, yet each is fully God. This one God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—is the cornerstone of the Christian faith and the basis for how believers live.
THE FATHER:
God the Father is the Maker of heaven and earth. By His word and for His glory, He willingly and miraculously brought everything into existence from nothing. By that same word, He continually upholds and provides for all He has made. He reigns over all things and, along with the Son and the Spirit, is the one true and sovereign God. His purposes cannot be stopped or undone. He is completely faithful to His promises, works all things for the good of those who love Him, and in His deep and undeserved grace gave His Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem humanity. He created everything for the honor of His glory and desires that people, above all, would live in close relationship with Him.
THE SON:
Jesus Christ, the one and only Son of God, is the eternal Word who took on human flesh. He was miraculously conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He is flawless in His character, teaching, and obedience—fully God and fully man. He has always existed with God and is Himself, God.
All things were created through Him and came into existence by His power. He existed before everything, and by His word all things continue to exist and are held together. He perfectly reveals the unseen God, holds authority over all creation, and in Him the fullness of God dwells in bodily form. He alone is the Savior of the world, who shed His blood and died in our place on the cross at Calvary.
Through His sacrifice on our behalf, He displayed God’s love while satisfying divine justice, taking away our sin, and restoring us to a right relationship with God. After redeeming us, He rose physically from the dead on the third day, conquering death and the forces of darkness. He then ascended into heaven and now sits at the right hand of God, where He intercedes for His people and reigns as Lord over all, awaiting the day of His return. He is the head of the church and is worthy of all worship, love, service, and obedience.
THE HOLY SPIRIT:
The Holy Spirit, who is Lord and the source of life, brings conviction to the world concerning sin, righteousness, and judgment. Through the message of the gospel, He calls people to turn from their sin and acknowledge Jesus as Lord. By His work, individuals are led to place their trust in God’s mercy.
The Spirit joins believers to Jesus Christ through faith, brings about spiritual new birth, and lives within those who have been made new. He has come to exalt the Son, just as the Son came to bring glory to the Father. The Holy Spirit guides the church into a true understanding of God’s Word and helps apply its truth to life. As God, the third Person of the Trinity, He is worthy of honor, reverence, and worship.
THE SCRIPTURES:
The Bible—
It is the trustworthy record of how God has revealed Himself to humanity, pointing us to salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Because it comes from God, the Scriptures are completely inspired by Him in every word. As originally given, they are without error in all they affirm.
Each book should be understood in light of its context and purpose, with humble obedience to the Lord who speaks through it with living power. Believers are encouraged to carefully study the Scriptures and faithfully apply them in daily life.
The Bible is the final authority and standard for all Christian belief, conduct, and teaching. It is entirely sufficient and must not be supplemented, replaced, or altered by human tradition, additional revelations, or worldly thinking. Every statement of doctrine—whether in creeds, confessions, or theological systems—must be evaluated by the whole counsel of God found in Scripture.
MAN:
God created humanity—male and female—in His own image as the highest point of His creation, so that people might honor Him and enjoy a relationship with Him. But when tempted by Satan, humanity chose to rebel against God. As a result, people became separated from their Creator, yet still accountable to Him, falling under His righteous judgment.
Because of this, human nature is deeply corrupted, and without a special work of God’s grace, no one is able to return to Him on their own. This brokenness affects every part of a person—the mind, the will, and the emotions. Those who are not spiritually renewed live under the power of sin and Satan, standing opposed to God, resistant to Him, and even hostile toward Him.
All people, no matter their character or achievements, are fallen and lost, without hope apart from the saving work found in Christ alone.
THE GOSPEL:
Jesus Christ is the message of the gospel itself. The good news is made known through His birth, His life, His death, His resurrection, and His ascension. His death on the cross stands at the very center of the gospel, His resurrection displays its power, and His ascension reveals its glory.
His death was offered in our place as a sacrifice that fully satisfies God on account of our sin. It meets the demands of God’s perfect justice and turns aside His righteous wrath, while also displaying His deep love and remarkable grace.
Jesus Christ alone stands as the mediator between God and humanity. There is no other name through which people can be saved. At the core of all true teaching is the cross of Christ and the incredible privilege given to redeemed sinners to glorify God because of what He has done.
For this reason, everything we do—in our lives, our churches, and our ministries—should flow from and remain centered on the gospel.
SANCTIFICATION:
The Holy Spirit is the one actively at work in our growth in holiness, producing His fruit in us as our thinking is transformed and we are shaped more and more into the likeness of Christ. While sin still remains within us, as we follow the Spirit’s leading, we continue to grow in our understanding of the Lord, willingly obey His commands, and strive to live in such a way that others see our lives and give glory to our Father in heaven. Believers are called to remain steadfast in their faith, recognizing that one day they will give an account to God for every thought, word, and action. Practices like studying Scripture, prayer, worship, and confession are essential ways God strengthens us in this journey. Even so, our ultimate assurance in continuing faithfully rests not in ourselves, but in God’s faithful promise to keep and sustain His people to the very end—a promise that is certain and secure.
MARRIAGE:
Marriage and sexuality—like all areas of belief—is grounded in the authority of Scripture. God created people in His own image as male and female.
Marriage reflects the relationship between Christ and His Church. From the beginning, it is described in Scripture as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, a design that Jesus Himself affirmed as God’s intended context for sexual expression. God established sexual intimacy to be experienced within the marriage bond between a husband and a wife and does not approve of it outside of that relationship. Therefore, any sexual activity outside of this covenant is contrary to what Scripture teaches.
WATER BAPTISM & COMMUNION:
Water baptism is meant for those who have personally received the saving work of Christ and are committed to following Him as disciples. In obedience to His command, and as a public declaration before God, the church, themselves, and the world, believers are to be baptized by immersion in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Baptism serves as a visible and symbolic expression of a believer’s union with Christ, identifying with His death and resurrection. It represents the end of one’s old life and powerfully illustrates freedom from the rule of sin. In the same way, the Lord’s Supper is intended only for those who are true followers of Christ. This practice represents Christ’s body given and His blood poured out for us, and it is to be observed regularly as an ongoing reminder of our participation in the benefits of His sacrifice.
As believers take part in the Lord’s Supper with faith and honest self-reflection, they remember and proclaim Christ’s death, are spiritually strengthened, and express their unity with others who belong to His body.
